DEPARTMENT OF EXTERNAL OBSERVATIONS
FIELD AGENT MANUAL
ODYSSEUS PROTOCOL (REVISION 5)
———
IN CASE OF ABDUCTION
1. OBSERVE environment, captors, culture, vehicles, weapons, technology, hierarchy, language, and any other information. Strive to make factual observations without bias. Note specifics wherever possible.
2. CONNECT with abductors. Minimize your perceived threat, ensure your continued survival, and foster sympathy and empathy for leverage.
3. CONCEAL any information that could be used against you, the Department of External Observations, or the United States of America.
4. CONFORM to observed norms. Emotional reactions will not serve you. Focus on survival. Your country will forgive you for any actions performed under duress.
5. COMPLY with abductors' demands, unless compliance will imperil your life or mission.
6. RETURN with your life if possible, with evidence if not. If you are unable to escape and return safely, make every possible effort to transmit your information to the Department of External Observations.
A copy of this document has been distributed to all Department of External Observations employees. For internal use only.
