227.87 Maya, now at Chioma's side, says, "Our work continues. We must rally the other exploratory teams, and we must stop the Conductor before she kills again. She may not be me, but I recognize myself in her. I owe it to Chioma to stop her. I owe it to myself."

"So, you're being self-serving," Chioma says, not without a fond twist of humor.

"It's part of my baseline." Maya's voice is wry. "We may as well use it."
